Rufus Crew, age 87, recently of Murfreesboro, TN, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2016. A native of Rutledge, GA, he was also a long-time resident of Madison and Covington, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mallard and Lady Sophia Elizabeth Whitaker Crew; son, Terry Lee Crew; along with many brothers and sisters.

Mr. Crew is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joanya Rutledge Crew; daughters, Sheryl "Sherry" Crew Harrell and her husband Roger of Murfreesboro and Mechelle "Mickey" Mathis of Foley, AL; grandchildren, Rick Jason and Trayce Mallard Crew, Brent Terry Jay and his wife Mary Kathleen "Kate", Justin Crew Jay and his wife Vickie Sue, and Caylin Jenny Hantz; great grandchildren, Mykah and Finn along with two more on the way; his canine companion, Buster Brown; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Crew was a retired Truck Driver for Roadway after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Local 707 Teamsters Union. Mr. Crew loved animals and was an avid baseball fan of the Atlanta Braves and also watching football. Mr. Crew cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and friend and was just an amazing man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
