Roy Douglas Cox, age 88, of Nashville, TN, died Sunday, October 11, 2009. He was born in El Paso, IL, the son of Walter Thurman and Elva Lynn Monroe Cox. Mr. Cox was a long-time resident of Murfreesboro before his retirement from State Farm Insurance Company. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Arlene Mae Shanklin Cox of Nashville; a son, Stephen Douglas Cox of Nashville; a daughter, Evelyn Marie Cox Benner of Streator, IL; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lynn Cox Jones; six brothers; and one sister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Alive Hospice, Inc., 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Private graveside services will be 10:00am Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
