Obituary

Rosemary Patricia (Patsy) Hayes Parkinson

Patsy, a daughter, sister, mother aunt, Godmother, grandmother and great-grandmother, faithful servant to God and devoted friend, left this mortal world for His kingdom on January 16, 2018. Though we know her birth date, it will not be stated here in deferment to her Southern heritage. She was preceded in death by her parents G. Douglas and Ruth Hayes, devoted husband and love of her life Don (Parky) Parkinson, daughter Pamela Seals and brother Douglas Hayes. She leaves to their own peril brothers James (Anne) Hayes and Michael (Angela) Hayes, children Susan (John) Cleveland, Michael (Lynne) Parkinson, Robin (Alison) Parkinson, Carrie Sanders, John (Kelly) Parkinson and son in law Dan Seals. Further adding to her legacy are seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a passel of nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Patsy was an original member of St. Rose Parish and served it in several capacities throughout her life. She also served as an election official for Murfreesboro. Patsy loved to travel. She, with Parky in tow and manning his ever present camera, visited Hawaii often, floated the Panama Canal, trekked around Alaska in a camper, frequently toured Europe and once had an audience with Pope John Paul. They even DROVE to Acapulco! It was on one of their trips to Europe that they visited the American Cemetery in Normandy. While Parky was in the visitors center Patsy wondered out among the tombstones. A local French guide saw her, approached, and struck up conversation beginning with, "Do you have a family member here"? She pondered the question, looked around and replied, "All of them". Parky came out to see her comforting a crying Frenchman.
