Rosalind "Rose" Ross Akin, age 91, of Hendersonville, TN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. A native of Smyrna, TN, and long-time resident of Rutherford County, she was preceded in death by her parents, William and Willie Mae Heath Ross.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Ron Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.

Mrs. Akin is survived by her son, Robert Warren "Bob" Akin Jr. and his wife Leslie of Sparta, TN; grandson, John Warren Akin of Washington, D.C.; and two sisters, Mae Summar of Murfreesboro and Bloma Hale of Hendersonville, TN.

Mrs. Akin was raised in the Church of Christ. She was a 1943 graduate of Smyrna High School, a graduate of MTSU and a graduate of Nashville School of Law. She was a retired lawyer and for many years had a law office in Murfreesboro on the square. Mrs. Akin loved gardening, traveling and was a life-long learner. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
