Obituary

RONALD ALVIN JOHNSON, SR, age 78 of Murfreesboro died Friday, February 4, 2011. He was born on September 7, 1932 in Lebanon, TN to the late Alvin Bone and Lenora Marie Andrews Johnson. He was raised in Lebanon where his grandparents also lived. They were Carlos Bryant Johnson, Missouri Jackson Johnson, Earl Lester Andrews and Mary Lenora Boone Andrews. Funeral service will be 10:30am Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Bro. Ron Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda Fay Gillette Johnson, son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Alvin and Cathy Johnson, Jr. of Smyrna, daughter and son-in-law, Karen L. and Chris Guthrie of Lebanon, six grandchildren, Christy G. Johnson, Daniel W. Johnson, David B. (Angie) Honeycutt, Tracey L. Guthrie, C. Brian (Michelle) Guthrie, Cody B. Guthrie, one great grandchild, Mia Guthrie. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Lebanon High School and entered the U.S. Navy where He and Glenda met and then married on February 14, 1953 in Bridge City, TX. After graduating from MTSU with a degree in Business Administration, he went to work with the State of Tennessee and later to Price-Waterhouse as an auditor. He served as Business Manager and Teacher at Cumberland University in Lebanon and later went to Thiokol Chemical in Huntsville, AL. Then he was Plant Controller at Cummings Sign and retired from Better Bilt Aluminum as a Corporate Controller. After retirement Ron and Glenda lived on Old Hickory Lake in Lebanon where they enjoyed fishing, water sports, and grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ron, Jr., Chris Guthrie, David Honeycutt, Daniel Johnson, Brian Guthrie, and Cody Guthrie.
