Roland D. Ireland, age 82, of Smyrna, TN passed away, Tuesday, April 12, 2016. A native of Upton, KY he was the son of the late William Thomas and Mary Mildred Kessinger Ireland. He was also preceded in death by his grandchild, Shawn Laws.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Smyrna Church of Christ. Robert Mullins will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Mr. Ireland is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Laura Lorraine Kelley Ireland; children, Lyron Potts and his wife Melinda, Pam Rumbaugh and her husband Allen, Greg Ireland and his wife Diana, and Rick Ireland and his wife Sharon all of Smyrna; grandchildren, Michael, David, Derrick, Nathan, Austin, Brett, Chris, Michele, Brittani, and Joyce; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Emma, Kimber, Kellyn, Annslee, and Eli.

Mr. Ireland was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force having served 20 years and a retired operator and supervisor with Bridgestone. He was awarded the Distinguish Flying Cross during the Vietnam War. Mr. Ireland was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.

Military will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
