Roger Wenum Hughes age 67 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday October 17, 2014. A native of Williamson County, he was the son of the late Archie and Ruby Peach Hughes. Funeral service will be 10:30am Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Dr. F. Murray Mathis and Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will be 1:00pm Wednesday at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 48 years; Evelyn Hollis Hughes, daughter; Jamie Pewitt and her husband Dirk of Rockvale, son; Alan Hughes and his wife Treva of Christiana, four grandchildren; Zach, Kayla, Kelsey Hughes, and Blake Pewitt. He is also survived by sisters; Loretta Mathis and her husband Dr. F. Murray Mathis, Kay Lynn and her husband Roger of Dickson, and a brother; David Hughes and his wife June of Thompson Station. Mr. Hughes was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. Visitation will be 4:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
