Robert "Rob"
Wayne Follis
July 22, 1969 – February 8, 2025
Robert "Rob" Wayne Follis, 55, of Woodbury, TN, entered into the presence of his Savior on February 8, 2025. A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, Rob's life was defined by his love for the Lord, his family, and his passion for flying.
Born on July 22, 1969, in Murfreesboro, TN, Rob was the beloved son of Harold Warren "Buddy" Follis and Janice Fay Follis. He was raised in a Christian household where faith and service were central values, shaping him into the man of integrity, kindness, and devotion that he became. Rob grew up attending Riverview Baptist Church and, in recent years, was a devoted member of The Experience Community Church in Cannon County, where he faithfully served others, gave of his time and money generously, led his weekly men's Bible study, and extended a helping hand to those in need.
Rob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Kristine "Kristie" Follis and his children Emily Inniger (Olivia and Luke), Shelby Follis, and Madison Follis. He is also survived by his loving mother, Janice Follis, and sister, Dori Cook. He is preceded in death by his father, Buddy Follis, his brother, William Lee Follis, and his first wife, Lara (Shelton) Follis.
A man of remarkable generosity, Rob never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He had a unique way of making those around him feel at ease, often providing a much-needed laugh in difficult moments.
Rob was born to fly. He took his first flight as a high schooler on March 27, 1982, from Murfreesboro Municipal Airport. What began as a passion soon evolved into a distinguished career, during which he amassed an impressive number of flight hours at the controls of several commercial aircraft. Rob was known for his skill, his relentless work ethic and his commitment to excellence—qualities that earned him the deep respect of his peers in the aviation community.
Though often in the air, Rob's heart was always at home. He treasured vacations with his family to Gatlinburg, Destin, and Orlando, and he had a special way of making every moment with his loved ones count. Known for his thoughtful nature, Rob often wrote heartfelt letters to his family and friends—words that now serve as a source of comfort and cherished memories.
Beyond his professional life, Rob found joy in hiking, fishing, shooting at the range, and flying day trips with his father-in-law Mike and cousin Justin. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren— watching Emily run at track meets, kayaking down the river with Shelby, exploring offroad in the Jeep with Madison, and joining 4-year-old Olivia on whatever adventure she requested.
To know Rob was to love him. He faithfully embodied the virtues of both his earthly father and his Heavenly Father, carrying himself with grace and generosity in all aspects of life. He will be remembered as a selflessly giving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who above all loved his Savior. Though he is gone too soon, we take comfort in God's promise that heaven is our home and that we will meet Rob again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Experience Community Church Cannon County on February 22nd from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
