Robert Bob Lewis Carney, age 78 of the Blackman Community, passed away Friday December 7, 2012. He was born in Iowa City, IA, to the late Willis and Bertha Elizabeth Seering Carney, and was also preceded in death by a son, Bengt-Holger Zernicke and two brothers, Donald Carney and Terry Craig. Mr. Carney is survived by his wife, Joan Stacey Carney; son, Robert G. Carney of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Brandy L. Jones and her husband Chris of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kirsten V. Parker and her husband David of Benton, AR; brothers, Lonnie Carney of Atkins, IA, Kenny Hussey of Waterloo, IA, Allen Carney of Redland, CA, and Keith Carney of Iowa City, IA; sisters, Patty Rogers of Brandon, IA and Betty Miller of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandchildren, Brandon, Mackenzie, and Elizabeth Jones. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday December 11, 2012 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Paul Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Carney was retired from the US Army as Master Sergeant. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL. 615- 893-5151.
