Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Davis, age 89, of Murfreesboro, TN went to be with the lord Monday, May 12, 2014. A native of Washington, IN he was the son of the late Gaither and Hallie Rutledge Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Potts Davis; son, Larry Ray Davis; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leon Davis. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:00PM at Gill Funeral Home in Washington, IN. Pastor Steve Hutson will officiate. Burial will follow in Aikman's Creek Baptist Church with military honors. Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Della "Dee" Brown and her husband Greg of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Betty Pride and her husband Oral of Washington, IN; grandchildren, Ian Brown and his wife Jaime of Murfreesboro, Justin Brown and his wife Jess of Nashville, and Erin Gaines and her husband Thomas of Knoxville; six great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Davis was a member of Third Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Davis was retired with Crane Naval Weapons Support Center as an electronics tech where he worked for 20 years. He enjoyed Indiana University Basketball, raising bird dogs and hunting, but most importantly he loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ian Brown, Justin Brown, Thomas Gaines, Kevin Pride, Steve Davis, and Keith Davis will serve as pallbearers. Memorials can be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission at 639 Lafayette St, Nashville, TN 37203. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00PM to the service time all at Gill Funeral Home.
