Robert "Doug" Lester, age 70 of Smyrna, died Sunday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a native of Norton, VA and a son of the late Robert and Nola Roberts Lester. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro with Rev. Loyd Mabry officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lester is survived by his wife of 45 years, Malinda Lester; daughters Holly Sanders and her husband Jim of Smyrna and Kristin King and her husband Andy of Franklin; grandsons Alex, Ben, Matt Sanders and Caleb King; a brother Tom Lester and his wife Carol of Smyrna and a sister Sandra Lester of St. Cloud, FL. Mr. Lester was a member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church and a United States Air Force Veteran with over thirty-two years of service to his country. Following his retirement from the 118th Air Lift Wing, he sold real estate for Bob Parks Realty and was an active member of the Sam Davis Masonic Lodge #661.
