Robert Edward Corter age 88 of LaVergne, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014. A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Bula Reynolds Corter. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Monday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna with Brother Bill Tomason officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. Mr. Corter is survived by his wife of 58 years; Vera Corter, daughter; Alice Corum and her husband Tom of Murfreesboro, son; John Corter of Smyrna, daughter; Linda Corter of Smyrna, daughter; Patricia Hurst and her husband Steve of Bon Aqua, son; Charlie Corter and his wife Rhonda of LaVergne, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters; Letha Brock of Ashland City, Dorothy Glass of Madison, and two brothers; Harold Corter of Summertown, and Frank Corter of Florida. Mr. Corter was a member of LaVergne Baptist Church where he and his wife Vera were both baptized. He retired from Bridgestone in the Maintence Department after 17 years of service.
