Robert Lee "Buddy" Bugg , age 88 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday January 9, 2018. A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Irvin Burton and Sally Mettie Milligan Bugg. Mr. Bugg was also preceded in death by brothers, William H. Bugg and Charles B. Bugg, and a sister, Frances C. Bugg.
Mr. Bugg is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy McDaniel Bugg; son, Robert Kevin Bugg and his wife Traci of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Sally Chase Bugg Wrather and her husband Chris of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, Earnest Bugg and his wife Carol of Upperville, VA, and T. Fred Bugg and his wife Phyllis of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Daisy Jones and her husband Berlie of Memphis, TN, Edith Graves and her husband Kelly of Macon, GA, and Betty Florida and her husband P. O. of Lascassas, TN; four grandchildren, Dr. Kassandra Taylor Bugg of Davis, CA, Tyler Shane Bugg of Philadelphia , PA, Sarah Chase Wrather and Mary Elizabeth Wrather both of Murfreesboro, TN; and special pet, Max.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:30 PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dean Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. The grandson and nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Alsup, Petis Powell, William "Bill" Pitts, Joe Martin, Gene Jordan, and the members of the Joy Sunday School Class at Belle Aire Baptist Church.
Mr. Bugg graduated from Lascassas High School and attended Crichlow School and Middle Tennessee State College. He served in the US Air Force as Airman First Class from 1957 to 1961 and retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years. Mr. Bugg was Deacon Emeritus from Powell's Chapel Baptist Church. While at Powell's Chapel Baptist Church, he served as Deacon for 40 years, served as Sunday school teacher for 35 years, and served as Treasurer for 20 years. He was a member of Belle Aire Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter and enjoyed serving on the Appalachian Mission Team. Mr. Bugg also enjoyed working in his yard and garden, raising and sharing his roses, traveling, especially the Alaskan trip, and his children and grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Tennessee State Veteran's Home for the care and love provided to Mr. Bugg for the past fifteen months.
