Robert David "Bob" Ferrell , age 91, was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on November 10, 1926, died on Sunday January 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Tinsley and Ida Mai Jakes Ferrell, and a brother, Cornelius Alexander "Alex" Ferrell.
Mr. Ferrell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Marie Graves Ferrell; three daughters, Lee Polk and her husband John of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Lynn Anton and her husband Jim of Morganton, North Carolina, and Dawn Clements and her husband Bruce of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michelle Polk Harvill and her husband Chuck of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, John Houston Polk III of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Skye Haralson Graham and her husband Chris of Cornelius, North Carolina, Windy Haralson Gardner and her husband Charlie of Moor Park, California, Will Clements of Naples, Florida, Ross Clements and his wife Kate of Houston, Texas, and Benjamin Clements and his wife Amy of Missouri City, Texas; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday at First Baptist Church, Mufreesboro, Tennessee, with Rev. Noel Schoonmaker officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 AM until the 11:00 AM service at the church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Charlie Gardner, Chris Graham, John Houston Polk III, Chuck Harvill, Will, Ross and Ben Clements serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Church Zacchaeus Sunday School Class.
Mr. Ferrell graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1948. He was employed as Office Manager by Campbell Taggart, Inc. (Colonial Baking Company) for 38 years in Nashville and Jackson, Tennessee, and Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Ferrell served as Vice President of the company in Jackson and was on the Board of Directors in Jackson and then in Indianapolis. He also worked for the State of Indiana for ten years before retiring to Murfreesboro. He was always actively involved in the Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for the care and love they gave to Mr. Ferrell. In lieu of flowers, friends may give a memorial gift to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in memory of Mr. Ferrell.
