Robert Jackson Arnold, age 87 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Wednesday February 24, 2016. A native of Rutherford County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Jackson Arnold, Sr. and Lillie B. Hoover Arnold. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of over 43 years, Ruth Hoover Arnold who died February 13, 1993, and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Ruth Dennis.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife of 21 years, Frances Hudson Johnson Arnold; daughters and sons in law, Kathleen and Bill Haynes of Nashville, TN, Anne and Jim Robertson, Jacqueline and Steve Stover all of Murfreesboro, TN; step-sons, Steve and Linda Johnson, Stanley and Glenda Johnson, and Scott Johnson all of Murfreesboro, TN; three granddaughters, three step-granddaughters, four grandsons, three step-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, and one step-great-grandson, four step-great-granddaughters; brothers, Edmond Arnold of Smyrna, TN, and Tony and Joy Arnold, Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until the 2:00 PM funeral time at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Jeff Brown and Geoff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Jack Haynes, Anthony Robertson, Lee Stover, Greg, Steve, and Scott Johnson, Wendell Hix, Tony Arnold, Jr. Freelin Tolbert and Sterling Harrell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E.C. Tolbert, Dr. Stephen Odom, Dr. Wayne Westmoreland, and Dr. Murali Kolli.
Mr. Arnold was a member of Kingwood Heights Church of Christ. He was also a retired teacher and preacher, teaching at MTCS, with his last 22 years before retirement teaching eighth grade science at Central Middle School.
Mr. Arnold preached for over 30 years for county Churches of Christ, preaching for the Bethlehem, Blackman, Crescent, and Hebron Churches of Christ as their regular preacher. Mr. Arnold was a graduate of Kittrell High School and Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. and Masters Degree, plus 30 semester hours.
