Obituary

R.L.Maynard, age 77 of Murfreesboro died Saturday at his home. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Samuel and Mittie Kemp Maynard. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Maynard; a grandson, Robert "Rob" Sullivan; and siblings, James, Bonell, Joseph, Ed, Dean, Francis, Reba, Flossie, and Johnny.


Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dovie May Warrick Maynard; children, Kathy Smith of Shelbyville, Peggy Gammon-Nelson, Bobby Maynard and wife Tina, and Penny Sullivan all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Andy, Stephanie, Ariel, J.R., B.J., Lee, and Chasity; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Hayden, Nadia, Issiac, Kelsey, Peyton, Aiden, Riley, Mason, Sophie, Addison, Jaxon, Kiley, and a host of other loving family and friends.


Mr. Maynard was a devoted family man who loved the outdoors and gardening. He was known for sharing his home grown tomatoes and as an avid sportsman he was always ready to go hunting and fishing.


Visitation will be Monday night from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ron Byers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy and Randy Gammon, James, Billy Joe, and Frank Maynard, Jon Carter, and Bobby Redfern.
