Ricky Smotherman, age 53, of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. A native of Rutherford County he was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lewis Smotherman and Berry June Moore Sinor. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, most notably his grandmother who he was close to, Roberta Turner. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Doyle Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in Whitworth Cemetery. Mr. Smotherman is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Dunaway Smotherman; daughters, Sheila and Leah Smotherman and son Dale Smotherman all of Murfreesboro; and brothers, Scott Smotherman of FL and Trey Sinor of Nashville. Mr. Smotherman worked for the Street Department for the City of Murfreesboro. He was an avid collector and modeler with his son of trains, especially the L&N railroad, and a fan of musician Elvis Costello. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00AM until the time of the service at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
