Obituary

Richard J. Magyar, Sr. age 96 of Smyrna, formerly of Harriman, Tennessee died Tuesday at StoneCrest Medical Center. Born in White Plains, New York he was a United States Army veteran serving during WWII in battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. He later was a Drafting Engineer at the Oak Ridge K25 site and after relocating to Smyrna, he attended Stones River Baptist Church.


Mr. Magyar is survived by a son, Gary Magyar and wife Vicki of Antioch; grandchildren, Melanie Crockett and husband Trevis of Murfreesboro, Joe Magyar and wife Susie of Owens Crossroads, Alabama; great grandchildren, Spencer, Natalie, and Justus Crockett, and Kailee, Shelby, and Alissa Magyar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Magyar, and a son, Richard Magyar, Jr.


Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Bro. Dan Dale officiating. Burial will be Saturday in Roane County Memorial Gardens, Rockwood, Tennessee.
