Richard Michael Leahew, age 49, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Murfreesboro and grew up in the Walter Hill Community. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Young, his grandparents Sam O. and Estelle Leahew and Joe and Mattie Young. Mr. Leahew is survived by his father and step-mother Robert and Patsy Leahew of Readyville; a half-sister Robbie Leahew of Murfreesboro; a nephew Robert "Buddy" Leahew of Readyville; special aunts and uncles Johnny and Eva Leyhew, Joe and Peggy Leahew, Claude and Frances Leyhew and Glendon and Wanda Barrett. Mr. Leahew had attended Powell's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a 1982 graduate of Oakland High School, a former employee of Yates in Smyrna and was a professional Trap and Skeet shooter. Visitation will be 12:00 until 1:30pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Friday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
