Lt. Col. Retired Richard Lloyd Hendrick, age 84 of Murfreesboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 16, 2018. He was a native of Orgas, WV and the son of the late Carl and Iva Ayers Hendrick. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Betty Jean Thomas Hendrick, who passed away on January 11, 2014.

Funeral service will be 10:00am Monday, August 20, 2018 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Military Honors. Pastor Noel Schoonmaker will officiate. Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery.  Dr. John Dixon, Dr. Steve Embry, Gary Eakes, Bob Verbal, Blake Tidwell, Tommy Wheeler, Jerry Lewis and Jimmy Thomas will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Lt. Col. Hendrick is survived by his wife; Betty Allen Hendrick, his children; daughter, Lora Hendrick of Donelson, Rick Hendrick and his wife Sandra of Murfreesboro, Mike Hendrick of Murfreesboro, and grandson, Austin Hendrick.

Lt. Col. Hendrick was member of the First Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Tennessee Tech. He served in the US Army Reserves until his retirement in 1983. He was a avid golfer for 54 years, MTSU supporter for 45 years and a BRAA member since 1972.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
