Obituary

Raymond Lee "Ray" Taber, age 89 of Smyrna, TN, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024. A native of Omaha, NE, he was the son of the late Carl and Josephine Coolidge Taber. Mr. Taber was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Joseph Taber, siblings, Donna Wassom, Carole Smith, Kathy Lyon, Josephine Smith, and Don Morgan.

Mr. Taber is survived by his wife, Alice Taber; daughters, Jean Marie Taber of Blaine, WA, Sharon Leigh Taber of LeDuc, Canada, and Anna Rae Taber Mann of Canada; stepdaughter, Lyneen Gann and her husband Jerry of Lebanon, TN; stepson, Steve Winecoff of LaVergne, TN; sister, Kathryn Grace of Mountain Home, AR; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild. He also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation with the family will be held Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation with Pastor Ronnie Meek and Pastor Kevin O'dea officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Taber was a member of Springhouse Church in Smyrna. He retired from the US Navy after earning the rank of Chief. He was also a retired Engineer from Teletouch Paging which is now American Messaging Services.
