Ramon Rafael Luina, M.D. of Murfreesboro passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was born on January 10, 1924 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. He is preceded in death by his wife Alberta Bleau Luina; his parents Jose Maria Luina and Maria Rosario Luina; his brothers Jose Antonio Luina and Adolfo Luina; his sisters Carmen Luina and Natividad Luina. Dr. Luina was a graduate of Creighton University Medical School and practiced medicine for 36 years in Meridian, Mississippi. He has been a resident of Murfreesboro for the past 15 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Ramon was known to his family and friends as "Chief." He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Chief is survived by his sister Inez Garcia; his children Ramon Luina, Jr. (Angela), Maria Lara, Miguel Luina (Charo), Judy George (David), Juan Luina (Shay), and Teresa Luina; his grandchildren Trey Luina (Susan), Scott Luina (Shannon), Nicholas Luina (Jelisa), Rebecca Lara (Ruben), Taylor Lara, Maria Garton (Ryan), Miguel Luina (Jen), Ana Reynolds (Jack), Eric George (Lauren), Gregory George (Meredith), Lacey Randa (Trey), and Leigh Garrett (Nick); and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
A special thank you for the loving care provided by his caregivers; Diana Todd, Lynda Howe, and Gale Bradshaw. The family members offer their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff at Alive Hospice. Also many thanks to Doris Todd for the loving support and special meals she provided.
Dear sweet "Chief" you leave us a legacy of loving devotion to faith and family. Our hearts are full of love and sadness. We will miss you.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 1601 N. Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37130, or to Alive Hospice at 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery. Deacon Pete Semich officiating.
