Ralph Kennedy Gilbert, age 74, passed away on August 18, 2015 at his home. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Westell and Kathryn Lowe Gilbert LeHoy. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ron Harper and Bro. James Creech officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday at 11:00 AM until service time at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Frizzell Gilbert; sons, Bryan Gilbert and Marty Gilbert and wife Kristy; grandchildren, Becca, Erin, and Matt Gilbert that were very special to him. Also a brother, Charles Gilbert and wife Jane. After graduating from Central High School, Ralph joined the U.S. Navy where he served three years. He then entered MTSU and after graduating taught school for a short period of time before going to work for the State Dept. of Education. Later he joined Avco Aerostructures to use his industrial studies degree where he later retired. Mr. Gilbert was a long time member of Salem Creek Church of Christ, formally Minerva Drive Church of Christ. The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Murphy for his long term care, Hospice and care-giver Sharon Orr for her loving care and Sybil McCroskey.
