Rae Dunaway

Rae Ann Snyder Dunaway, age 90 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died Friday, July 17, 2026, at Adams Place. She was a native of Louisville, Kentucky and was the only child of the late Raymond Edgar Snyder and “Dollie” Gertrude Virginia Snyder.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Dunaway Stephens and husband Robert Stephens of Murfreesboro; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Schroeder (Eric) and Benjamin Stephens (Donielle); also, three step-great-grandchildren, Kamden, Karly and Bowen. The immediate family bestowed upon her the call-sign “Queenie” referencing the admiration of her son-in-law’s Naval Aviation career. To Deborah she will always be “Mother Dear”.

Ms. Dunaway enjoyed an active working life in the banking/finance industry. She graduated from the secretarial school of Sullivan Business College in Louisville. She was initially hired as secretary to the finance director at the KY Baptist Convention and, after a move to Florida, transferred to the FL Baptist Convention office in Jacksonville. She was then hired in an Administrative Assistant position for the investment department of Barnett Bank of FL, and later asked to join a start-up investment firm- Sawgrass Asset Management- based in Jacksonville/Ponte Vedra Beach from which she retired.

Her hobbies included ballroom dancing and was an avid Nascar race fan following her favorite driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She also loved animals, our military and fashion. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ms. Dunaway may be made to K9s For Warriors based in Ponte Vedra, FL.

Final arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Funeral Chapels, Murfreesboro with interment at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY near her parents. An online guestbook is available for the family at www.woodfinchapel.com.
