Obituary

Rachel Hooper Dickens Maxwell was the daughter of Candy Lindsay and Mortie Dickens. She was born Dec. 17, 1981 and was loved by most everyone who ever met her. She had a precocious personality and was intellectually gifted from an early age, teaching herself to read long before she started school.

She grew up in Franklin, TN with her 3 sisters; Laura Dickens, Sarah Burlason and Rebekah (Burlason) Denning. She attended Public school in Williamson County and was the Salutatorian of her class at Williamson County Middle College. She was the proud mother of 2 girls when she met and married Jon Maxwell who had a girl and boy. They welcomed 1 more daughter before his tragic passing 2 years ago.

Rachel devoted herself to her family and community work, forming the Smyrna Area Giving Society with friends and working tirelessly for many years to make sure those suffering in her community had resources, food and things for their kids. Most recently, she and her finance, Miles Whatley, planned for the future and did outreach work with the homeless.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, including her children; Abigail and Jon Paul Maxwell (Cheryl Maxwell), Lorelei and Karleigh Dickens (Grayson McDonald) and Ella Maxwell (the late Jon Maxwell). A large extended family of Dickens, Lindsay, McDonald, Maxwell, Burlason, Denning, Whatley, and a host of friends and love ones mourn her untimely passing.

A celebration of life will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Visitation will be Saturday at Woodfin Chapel from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
