Dr. R. WAYNE GOBER age 71 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Monday December 13, 2010. A native of Double Springs, AL, he was the son of the late Richard Floyd and Delphia Northcutt Gober. Dr. Gober is survived by his wife, Diane McCullough Gober; sons, Richard Todd (Nila) Gober and David Wayne (Shari) Gober both of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Lisa Gober Smyth of Murfreesboro, TN and Brittney Ella Gober of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Andrew and April Smyth, Rian, and Megan Gober, Abby and Zack Baughman; Dr. Gober is also survived by a beloved friend, Jimmy Howell of Nashville, TN Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dean Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Gober was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a lifelong educator, and became a full professor in 1970. Dr. Gober was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and an avid football fan. He was full professor at Louisiana Tech, and was a professor in the School of Business, Department of Computer Information Systems for 35 years at MTSU. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
