Polly M. Smotherman age 97 of Murfreesboro died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at MTMC. Ms. Smotherman was a native of Rutherford County and daughter of the late H.R. and Evie Pinkerton Smotherman. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Marion West will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Ms. Smotherman is survived by a brother Tom Smotherman of Blackman, and a sister Amy Adams of Mt. Juliet. Nieces and nephews Orma Gregory, Mary Lou Parsley, Nancy Barnett, Martha Madeo, Little Tom Smotherman, Linda Sue Anderson, Kendall Adams, Debra Adams Brewer, and Patricia Smotherman Harris. Ms. Smotherman was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. She was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ, and had been employed at Arnold Engineering Development Center, Sewart Air Force Base Hospital prior to her retirement. Ms. Smotherman was a 1932 graduate from Murfreesboro Central High School and was a graduate of Draughons Business College in Nashville. Family will serve as pallbearers.
