Phyllis "Pa" Jean Tubbs, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2014. A native of Alabama, and long-time resident of Smyrna, she was preceded in death by her father, J.W. Oakley. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 3:00PM in Mapleview Cemetery. Brother Dan Parker will officiate. Visitation will be at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna on Monday from 2:00PM to 2:45PM. Ms. Tubbs is survived by her daughter, Amy Hockensmith and her husband Scott of Smyrna; mother, Imogene Vester Oakley of Smyrna; brother, Mike Oakley and his wife Sarah of Lascassas; sister, Paige Oakley of Smyrna; grandchildren, Montana and Addison Morton of Smyrna; niece, Ashley St. John and her husband Benji of Manchester, TN; great nephew, George St. John and great niece, Destiny St. John both of Manchester. Ms. Tubbs was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was a beautician at Wingate Hair Salon where she took great pride in her work. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Tubbs can be made to the Parkway Baptist Church building fund.
