Peter G. "Pete" Adams, age 79 of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Chicago and a son of the late Quentin and Ruby O'Leary Adams. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Maxine Wood Adams in 2017 and a son, Peter Allen Adams.

Survivors include sons, Rev. Steven Adams and wife Nancy, Timothy Adams and wife Lisa, and Abraham Adams, all of Murfreesboro; daughters, Jo Ann Hartsell of Murfreesboro and Hannah Koehler and husband Ron of Hixson, TN; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Adams was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church and a graduate of Purdue University. He served Rutherford County as an independent insurance agent for many years. He earned the designation of Certified Life Underwriter and owned the Adams Agency in Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Franklin Road Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Norris and Reverend Stephen Mee officiating. A private graveside service will be in the Windrow Cemetery.
