Penny Renee Burks Miller

Penny Renee Burks Miller, age 60 of Shelbyville, TN, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Wayne Burks and Gloria Dell Layhew Burks. Penny was also preceded in death her brother, Robin Burks.

Penny is survived by her son, Cole (Bethany) Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; a grandson, Azaiah Miller and his mother Patricia Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Jerry Burks of Rockvale, TN; sister, Tammy Merritt and her husband David of Rockvale, TN; nieces, Christy Cripps, Ashley Davis, Amber Brennstuhl, Jesse Burks, and Kelsey Burks; one nephew, Steven Hackney; and her fur babies, Charlie and Roxie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at New Beginnings Church, in Rockvale, TN, with Pastor Roy Robinson officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the Celebration of Life.

Penny was a member of Wards Grove Baptist Church and an LPN. She loved her family and friends more than life itself. Time spent with them was always special. Most of all she loved God with her whole heart. Penny enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it be fishing, singing, or looking for antiques. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
