Paul Saylor Brown Wendell, age 74, of Murfreesboro, TN died on Wednesday November 5, 2014. A native of Asheville, NC he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Carolyn Tull Wendell and Robert Lee and Queen Anne Davis Brown. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The Reverend James K. Polk Van Zandt will officiate. Mr. Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Morgan Wendell; daughters, Emily Wendell and her companion Jeff Clark of Coronado, CA and Paula Wendell Reed and her husband Scott of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Chase Wendell Reed and Carolyn Saylor Reed of Golden, CO; and siblings, Martha Aquilla Brown O'Neal of Raleigh, NC, William Robert Brown and his wife Sylvia of Raleigh, NC, Charles Hunter Brown and his wife Shirley of Charlotte, NC, and Priscilla Anne Brown of Scottsdale, AZ; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Wendell was a religious man who grew up in the Episcopal Church. He was named after Bishop Paul Matthews and Father Frank Saylor. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and served in both the United States Army and the National Guard. Mr. Wendell was one of the first employees of Nissan North America and retired as Transportation Manager. He loved nature and all animals especially his cat Amadeus. Mr. Wendell also had a passion for fishing, woodworking, painting and toying with cars and anything mechanical. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and caring friend to many. Memorials can be made to the Humane Society in memory of Mr. Wendell. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
