Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Adam Taliaferro was born May 7, 1943 to Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Robert "Bob" and Polly Mays Adam in Albany, Georgia. Throughout her life they relocated to Denver, Colorado, Anchorage, Alaska and eventually settled down in Smyrna, Tennessee with her father's retirement.

She was a 1961 graduate of Smyrna High School and became a registered nurse in 1964 after graduating from the nursing program at Macon Hospital. She married her high school sweetheart, John Taliaferro in 1964 and they made their home in Smyrna, TN. She worked as a nurse at the Smyrna and Rutherford Hospitals until she and husband and pharmacist John opened Lavergne Pharmacy and Market in Lavergne, TN. She continued to pursue her passion for caring for people working side by side with John until the store closed in 1996.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John Powell Taliaferro and brother, Charles Michael Adam.

She is survived by daughter, Cindy Smith and her husband Dow of Smyrna, TN, son, John Powell Taliaferro, Jr and his wife Rhonda of Sugar Hill, GA, daughter, Wendy Petzoldt and her husband Duane of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Harrison and Mitchell Smith, Avery, Olivia, Sam, and Eli Petzoldt; brother, Russell Adam (Sharon) of Smyrna, TN; and sister, Robin Mayo (Mark) of Watertown, TN.

Mrs. Pat enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers.  She loved chocolate, Christmas, and buying presents for family and friends. She was best known for her radiant smile and infectious laugh. She was a tireless worker with seemingly boundless energy who never seemed to complain that the task was too great.

She was a fabulous cook and most famous for her homemade biscuits and fried chicken.  She could tackle most any project from cross-stitch to baking and canning but most often could be found spoiling her grandchildren. She was the baby whisperer; comforting any crying child, mending any booboo, and baking the birthday cake of your wildest imagination. She was also the procurer of all Halloween costumes and the one who secretly sprinkled the magic on any family gathering. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed.

In honor of Mrs. Pat memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
