Opal M. Fergus, age 90, of LaVergne, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Burdah May Martin Millard; husband, Walter Keeney Fergus Sr.; sons, Steven Edward Fergus and Robert Millard Fergus; sister, Frank Edna Earle; and brothers, Bruce Wiggins, Robert Millard, Thomas Millard and Edward Millard. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Ron Caldwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Fergus is survived by her sons, Walter Keeney Fergus, Jr. of Smyrna, David Lee Fergus and his wife Betty of Smyrna; and John Boyle Fergus and his wife Claudette of Murfreesboro; daughter, Jane Fergus Mullins and her husband Steve of Smyrna; daughter-in-laws, Barbara Fergus and Margaret Fergus; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fergus was a member of Old Jefferson Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Fergus had a passion for gardening and flowers. She loved sewing and was an avid reader. She took great joy in spending time with her family. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials can be made to Avalon Hospice, Old Jefferson Church of Christ or to Susan G Komen for the Cure of Breast Cancer. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
