Obituary

OPAL PARKER ARMSTRONG, age 94, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, November 14, 2010. She was a native of Cannon County and the daughter of the late Bob and Myrtle Swanger Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband James Hilton Armstrong who died in 1966 and her daughter JeVena Morrison who died in 1995, brother, Hilary Parker and wife Clara, Homer Parker and wife Mildred; sister, Mamie Rogers and husband Omar and sister-in-law, Delois Parker. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Jim Clardy and Janice Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Ivy Bluff Cemetery, Cannon County. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by two brothers; Houston Parker and wife Lyda, and Kenneth O. Parker all of Cannon County, and sixteen nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and retired from teaching at Mitchell Neilson Primary. Active pallbearers will be John, Joe, Robert, and Mark Parker, Brian, David, Morris, and Bobby Parker, Jerry, Kenneth, and Houston Parker. A special thanks to her devoted care giver, Joyce Buchanan.
