Obituary

Norman "Preacher" Maurice Lee, age 79 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday July 21, 2015. A native of Rutherford County, TN, he was the son of the late Roy Douglas and Sallie Tom Thomas Lee. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Thurman, Roy, W. T., Ricks, and Raymond "Dickie" Lee, and a sister, Estelle Wood. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Williams Lee; daughter, Norma Lee Hawk and her husband John of Smyrna, TN; brothers, Robert Lee of Joelton, TN, Roger Lee of Smyrna, TN; sisters, Elene Butts of College Grove, TN, Tillie Hager of Smyrna, TN, and Sadie Holt of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, John Norman Smythia and Jeana Lee Misenhimer both of Smyrna, TN, and Roger Brent Smythia of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandson, Dylan Smythia of Murfreesboro, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro with Pastor Loyd Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in the Triune Cemetery with John and Brent Smythia, Jay Doughtie, Bert Duke, Jimmy "J. K." Kendrick, and Bill Oglesby serving as pallbearers. Mr. Lee served in the Tennessee Air National Guard, was one of the first policemen for the Smyrna Police Department, a deputy sheriff with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department, and a volunteer fireman. He was retired from Bridgestone. Memorials may be made to Smyrna First United Methodist Church/ Benevolence Fund, in memory of Mr. Lee.
