Mr. Nookoon Boothisan born on July 1, 1940 and was a resident of Taleo village and Champhone District in Laos. He is the son of Mr. Khammy Bounkhan and his wife Souny Mathmanivong, whom together had 13 children, nine of whom have perished, including Nookoon, one living in Laos and 2 in Atlanta, GA.

After graduating, he attended the 15th class of The Army Officer School at Chinaimo, Vientiane. Later in his career he would travel to Fort Knox near Louisville, Kentucky to train with the U.S. Army.

Mr. Nookoon married to Mrs. Thiep Soumphonphakdy in April 1964, together having 6 children, 4 daughters, 1 son, and one daughter whom perished at age two. He also leaves 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all residing in Murfreesboro, TN.

In Laos, Nookoon served in the Military Region 4, where he last served in command of the 34th SGU Reg. from 1971 until 1975, the Communists took over Laos put him to prison education camp for eight months, he deserted from prison and fleet to Refugee Center in Ubon, Thailand until the end of 1976, bringing the family to Murfreesboro, the United States

Nookoon started working at Mare Mont Corporation (later renamed Beck Arnley world Parts) in Nashville, TN for 28 years until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Nookoon Boonthisan was the most the enthusiastic and outgoing of his seniors. Nookoon has been leading and pioneering the Lao society in this area since the late 1970's up until present day where the Laotion people very much recognize and respect him.

Mr. Nookoon Boonthisan passed peacefully at Saint Thomas Rutherford on Monday, June 15 at 2:00am with family by his side.
