Nona Gamester Fortner, age 93, of Murfreesboro passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016. She was a native of Muncie, Indiana and the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Gamester Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Fortner, sister, Mary G. Davis, and brother, Arthur T. Maze.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. H A  Beasley will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her sons, Rod Fortner and Bruce Fortner, daughter, Nona Poole and her husband J. Erin, all of Murfreesboro, brother, Lucky Maze of Antioch, grandchildren, Rod Fortner, Jr., Devonne Barker, Ryan Fortner, Robby Fortner, Shawn Fortner, Samantha Fortner, Nona Leanne Poole, Joanne Marsh and her husband Steven, Michelle Robinson and her husband Eric, Kristina Swan, great grandchildren, Sloan Barker, Shea Barker, Sheridan Barker, Christopher Fortner, Kayla Fortner, Jasmine Fortner, Elise Fortner, Lane Marsh, Jacob Marsh, and Donnie Robinson.

Mrs. Fortner and her late husband Robert founded Sir Pizza 50 years ago this month. She was a part of the St. Clair Street Senior Center Clowns and the Red Hat Society. She was a lifelong bowler, even in her late eighties.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair Street Senior Center or charity of you choice in her memory.
