Nellie Grace Herring Couch grew up in a small Mississippi town. All the furniture in her house was made by her father, all the flowers on the church altar were grown in her yard. As an Air Force wife, she raised children in a bombed-out Germany and grew bananas in her yard in Hawaii. She made stained glass art, raised a flock of geese, and carefully stranded beaded necklaces. She grew orchids and African violets. She doted on her grandchildren. Life took her all over, but no matter where she went, Grace always valued beauty and lived life on her own terms.
