Obituary

Nannie Lee Thomas, 97, passed away March 1, 2016. She was born March 27, 1918 in Carthage, TN, to William and Creola Hackett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Berry Thomas, her mother and father, and a sister, Beatrice Neely.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son, Daniel Thomas, granddaughter, Danya Jones, and four great grandchildren. Her father passed away in 1920, and she, her mother, and sister moved to Antioch to live with their grandparents, the Dan Smith family, in the Cane Ridge Community. She and her sister attended the old Cane Ridge School. Later, they moved to Nashville where she graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1934 at the age of 16. She worked many jobs during the Depression, but finally went to work at Thompson-Green Caterpillar Co. where she retired with over 30 years service.

She loved life, kept busy helping others with her church activities, and making afghans and quilts, and trying to keep up with her son which was a full-time job.
