Nancy McElhiney Proctor, age 85 died Saturday, November 23, 2013. Mrs. Proctor was a native of Nashville and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Geneva Crowell McElhiney. Mrs. Proctor is survived by a son James B. "Jayme" Proctor of Pittsboro, NC; daughter Sheila Balch and her husband John of Murfreesboro; a sister Jean Milton of Nashville; three grandchildren, Thomas W. Balch and his wife Marida, Benjamin E. Balch, and Amy L. Balch. She was preceded in death by her husband J.B. Proctor who died in 1990, one brother Kealan McElhiney and a sister Joan McElhiney. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jim Clardy will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Proctor was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Cohn High School and retired from Phillip's Bookstore on the Middle Tennessee State University Campus. In the 1950's she along with her late husband and family lived in an apartment in the original Stones River Country Club, where Mr. Proctor served as golf pro and greens keeper. For the past three years, Mrs. Proctor was a very happy resident at Sunnington Assisted living where she enjoyed sharing meals and activities with her friends. She truly adored the Sunnington staff.
