Obituary

MSG CERY GARNER BENNETT, age 78, of Murfreesboro, TN, died Saturday, January 03, 2009. He was a native of Carthage, TN and the son of the late Earl and Margaret Derden Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Bennett, and siblings, Jim Bennett, Gene Bennett, Francis Barrett, and Erlene Luttrell. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Adam Coggin will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He is survived by his children, Amy (Joe) Connifey-Marlin, Garner (Claire) Bennett, and Rebecca (Carl) Mayfield, sister, June Harris of Orlando, FL, brother, Ernest Bennett of Huntington Beach, CA, sister-in-law, Vera Conley, grandchildren, Sarah Connifey, Jennifer (Brian) Austin, Ashley (Mitchell) Whittenburg, Emily Bennett, and Nicholas Bennett, great-grandchildren, Carleigh Austin, Christopher Austin, Elizabeth Mayfield, Jaxson Whittenburg, and Maddox Whittenburg. Mr. Bennett was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather; graduate of Kittrell High School; US Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, MD, Company 316, 22 Battalion, 2nd Regiment; Naval service aboard USS Chilton; Retired Air National Guard, MSG; Retired after 40 years from South Central Bell. Pallbearers will be Brian Austin, Garner Bennett, Joe Marlin, Carl Mayfield, Gene Parks, and Mitchell Whittenburg. Honorary Pallbearers are the Thursday Morning Mens Coffee Group.
