MILEY ED TOOMBS, age 63, of Smyrna, Tn. died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at his home. He was born in Rutherford County. He is survived by his son, Shane Toombs of Murfreesboro; daughter, Shelby Toombs of Smyrna; sister Annette (Bobby) Morton of Smyrna; brother, Paul (Patsy) Toombs of Christiana; mother, Alene Dean Toombs of Murfreesboro; mother of his children, Estelle (Damon) Davis of Smyrna. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro with David McCaman officiating. Burial will follow in Nolensville Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 pm Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Mr. Toombs was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Otis Toombs. He was of the Church of Christ Faith, a veteran of the United States Army and a supervisor at Yates. He was a devoted son, loving father, and an unselfish brother. He loved his job at Yates, was a horse lover and loved the outdoors. He was a cowboy at heart. Memorials in memory of Mr. Toombs may be made to Odyssey Health Care, the American Lung Association, or the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Stonecrest Hospital, 200 Stonecrest Blvd., Smyrna, Tn. 37167.
