September 21, 1935 – July 3, 2022
Michael Rader, age 86 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, died Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Clarendale at Bellevue Place, Nashville. He was a native of Wheeling, West Virginia and a son of the late Peter and Mary Rader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Rader and brothers, Emil and Peter Rader.
Survivors include his daughters, Carol Miesch and husband Fred of Campobello, SC and Karin Rader-Carson and husband Mike of Kingston Springs, TN; grandchildren, Nick, Zach, and Katie Miesch; a niece, Susan Hampton; a nephew, Emil Rader; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mr. Rader was a longtime member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church Murfreesboro and had been a member of both Army and Air Force National Guards. He was a graduate of the Linsly Military Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia. He played football for and graduated from the University of West Virginia and went on to earn his master's degree at the University of Detroit. Following a career at Ford Motor Company, he went on to start his own company serving as a Manufactures Sales Representative in the Tool and Die Industry.
Mike was a lifelong athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track & field while at Linsly; playing football for the University of West Virginia, and enjoying golf and tennis for many years. Mike also participated in boxing classes and swim therapy after his Parkinson's diagnosis.
Mike was very smart, funny, and had a great zest for life. Faith and family were extremely important to him. He was very kind, and generous in spirit and deed. He was a great dad and Papa, and a great friend.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 10:00am until the time of a funeral mass beginning 11:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial will be alongside his beloved wife in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown Township, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Mike be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Special Kids Therapy & Nursing Center, Murfreesboro Tennessee and an online guestbook is available for the Rader family at www.woodfinchapel.com.
