Mr. Michael McGowen, Sr., age 56 of Smyrna, TN passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017. He was born on August 8, 1961 in Murfreesboro, TN to George and Virginia Carter McGowen. Michael was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and was very devoted to his family. He was a forklift operator for Bruce Hardwood Flooring for 27 years before working for Bindtech in Antioch. Michael fought a good fight with cancer for the last four and a half years.

Michael is survived by his parents, George and Virginia McGowen of Smyrna; brother, Randall McGowen and his wife Debra of Rockvale, TN; daughter, April Wilson and her husband Jacob of Murfreesboro; son, Michael McGowen, Jr. of Smyrna; nieces, Natasha, Jamie, Belinda, and Stephanie; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny and Annie Lou McGowen and Roy and Lydia Carter.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 10:00am until 12:00noon at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 12:00noon at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Bro. Bobby Maxwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
