Michael Burgess McCool, age 24, passed into his Heavenly Home April 16 at his house in Smyrna surrounded by his mother and father after a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Missy and Chris Newsom; father and stepmother, Mark and Dianne McCool; sister, Melody (Jeremy) Street; half-brother, Mason McCool and step-sister, Malory Luciane, grandparents, Barbara and Claude McCool, and Barbara Crain all of Greenbrier; and step grandparents, Ella Sue and Clancy Carter; and his aunts, Lee Ann Fisher and cousin Will from Decatur, IL., Amy (Curtis) Castle and cousins Ian and Emma, and Claudia (Scotty) Lewis and cousin Gunnar. Mr. McCool had an overwhelming love for his church, Giles Greek Baptist Church and his church family, especially their mission programs. His extended family includes many MDA friends and all past and present members of the Nashville Predators. Visitation will take place at Giles Creek Baptist Church located at 7084 on Rocky Fork Road from 2:00PM until 8:00PM Sunday, April 18. His celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, April 19 at the church. Brother Terry Campbell will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Mason McCool, Jeremy Street, Curtis Castle, Will Fisher, Kevin Newsom and Eric Scales. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nashville Predators Hockey Team and Coaching Staff. In lieu of flowers Michael has requested donations to Giles Creek Baptist Church Building Retirement Fund, Giles Creek Adult Mission Fund or the Make A Wish Foundation. Michael also requested casual dress with emphasis on Predators colors of navy, blue and gold.
