Obituary

On 12 September 2022, Michael Lee Evans, surrounded by family passed
peacefully away in Nashville TN after a lengthy battle with cancer. Michael was
born in Galion OH the son of Samuel Evans and Billie Gibbs. He was raised by an
amazing step father, Elwin Helman and lived in Marengo OH up until adulthood.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1963 and served 4 years. He then enlisted in the Army
in 1973 and served under Air Defense Artillery achieving the rank of Master
Sergeant (E-8) by the time of his retirement in 1993.
During one of his tours in Ft. Bliss, TX Michael met the love of his life, Patricia A
Murphy and they were married in 1980 . His career carried him and his bride
across the globe and they built a beautiful life that spanned 42 years.
God gave him back to us many times, but he knew it was time for Mike to go
home. We were blessed to have the time we did have. He was a very special man
who touched many lives. He lived a wonderful life and lived in places most people
only read about in books. There were a few things he didn't get to do only
because he ran out of time. He learned to live with cancer and was very good at
it. He fought cancer for 42 years of his life and never allowed it to define how he
lived. He was so much more than just the cancer and he never gave up.
He was a friend and mentor to everyone he encountered. He will be remembered
for his selfless acts of kindness and he will be missed by the many lives he
touched.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Son Bryan, and Brother Ray. He is
survived by his wife Patricia Evans, Brother Richard Evans, step sisters Loree
Curren , Brenda Monk (Jack), step sons Randy Carbine (Kimberly) Timothy Carbine
(Marissa) and step daughter Sandra Carbine. Several grandchildren and great
grandchildren shall miss their Pa. His legacy of service to his country will forever
be know for its honor and commitment. His legacy to his family and friends will be
forever remembered for his kindness, peace, love, honesty and most of all his
humor. Be thou at peace soldier, your day is done.
