Melvin Joshua Basicker, age 76 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on December 6th, 2018. He was born on July 20th, 1942 in Anderson, IN to the late Owen and Fern Basicker, and was a native of Greensboro, IN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Basicker was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Basicker; a son, Todd Basicker; and a brother, Mike Neely.

Melvin retired from GM Delco Remy in Anderson, IN with 38 years of service. He moved to Murfreesboro, TN in 2002 and was a member of Murfreesboro Christian Church.

Mr. Basicker is survived by his wife, Oleta Basicker; son, Darren (Dawn) Basicker of Shirley, IN; daughter-in-law Kris Basicker; granddaughters Lauren and Lindsey Basicker of Danville, IN; brother Dennis Basicker of IN; 3 step-children, Jeff (Kathy) Smith of Port Orange, FL, Greg (Lori) Smith of Byrdstown, TN, and Pam (Duane) Ford of Thompson Station, TN; and 7 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Murfreesboro Christian Church on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to the time of service. Bert Scott and Darrell Asche will officiate. Burial of Mr. Basicker's cremated remains will take place at a later date at Hick Site Cemetery in Greensboro, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Murfreesboro Christian Church building fund. The family would like to thank the staff at The Rutherford Memory Care for the loving care they showed Mr. Basicker.
