Mrs. Melva Davis Hargett, age 86, of Murfreesboro, Tn. died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Middle Tn. Medical Center. She was born in Tilden, Illinois and then moved to Salem, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Reed & Ruby Williams Davis. She is survived by her two sons, Gregg Hargett and his wife, Carol of Murfreesboro and Reginald G. Hargett of New Orleans, La.; three sisters, Margaret Smith, of Hopkinsville, Ky., Marlene Black of Carrsville, Ky. and Irene Arant of Benton, Ky.; grandchildren, Stefan Hargett, Lorien Hargett Kuo, Krista Hargett Warren and Paige Hargett; great grandchildren, Reagan Warren and Davis Warren. Funeral services 3 pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael OBannon officiating. Visitation with the family will be after 1 pm Friday. Burial in the Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield, Ala at 11 am Saturday . Mrs. Hargett was married to the late Ottie G. Hargett. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a retired payroll clerk for the City of Sheffield, Ala.
