MAYME JEANETTE PAYNE age 84 of Smyrna died Saturday January 2, 2009. A native of Overton, County Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Birch and Cora Phillips Madewell. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna. Pastors and Tony Clemens will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with Mark Smithson serving as honorary pallbearer. Mrs. Payne is survived by her sons David Payne of Murfreesboro, Samuel (Beth) Payne of Franklin, Daughters Deborah Chapman of Murfreesboro, Lois (Roger) Williams of TX., Elizabeth West of Nashville, Sarah Sloan of Smyrna, 15 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and a Sister Bea Scott of Cookeville. She was preceded in death by her husband Thurman Payne, Daughter Mary Ruth, two brothers James Carl Madewell, and Burch Owen Madewell. Mrs. Payne was a member of Smyrna First Church of Nazarene.
