MAX LAMAR THOMAS, SR. age 71 of Murfreesboro, TN, went home to be with the Lord Thursday Dec. 25, 2008. A native of Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Davis Lee Thomas, Jr. and Ruth Cooper Thomas Carringan. Survived by wife, Doris Jones Thomas, sons and daughters in-law, Max Lamar Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Renee, of Murfreesboro, TN and Randall Keith Thomas and his wife, Shelli, of Matthews, NC, sisters, Genevieve Grow and brother- in-law Dave of Rock Spring, GA, Bernice Stanton of New Jersey, and brother, Stanley Grodzki of Ringgold, GA. Mr. Thomas is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Lindsay, and Madison Thomas. Services will be 1:30 PM Sunday CST at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Michael Lee officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Thomas was a member of Third Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Mr. Thomas was an ordained deacon and worked for 46 years with the Royal Ambassadors. He served as director of the Royal Ambassadors at Central Baptist and Brainerd Hills Baptist in Chattanooga. Mr. Thomas was a Tennessee State certified Royal Ambassador teacher. He worked for the passed 18 years with the Tennessee Baptist mentally challenged adult men. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Vaden Life Group Class at Third Baptist Church and members of Chapter TN-Y of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
